Through www.worldwidejobsearch.com you have found your dream job that suits you. But now comes the most exciting part: applying! How do you convince the employer that you are the right person for the job? With your application letter you want to stand out. You want to let them know why you fit in, what you can do for the company and why you think you are a good match. In short: why you are the right candidate for this job.
How do you compose a cover letter?
Start by introducing yourself. Your name, age and place of residence.
If necessary, tell where you saw the vacancy. Then tell what motivates you to apply for this job.
Tell more about who you are and your career so far: your studies and work experience. What makes you unique? Keep the information relevant to the vacancy.
State your positive qualities.
State how you know the company and why you would like to apply for this position and for this company.
Tell why you would like to work abroad. Have you worked abroad before? Tell more about your experience(s). Why do you fit in with the company? And what makes you the right person for this position? Convince the company that you are the right candidate for this company.
Think of a nice closing sentence. Then end with a salutation, possibly a signature, and your name.
Refer to your Curriculum Vitae in the attachment. Do you already have experience in a similar position? This is always a plus (and in some cases a must) and therefore good to mention. Don’t have any experience yet? Then explain why you think you could do the job well. Mention characteristics appropriate to the position and give examples of scenarios showing that you are suitable for the position.
Points of interest:
Spelling/Sentence Structure
Obviously, it is important to pay close attention to your spelling – but also to your sentence structure. Your letter should be clearly readable and have a logical sequence. Always read your letter carefully before you send it. If necessary, have someone else look at it as well. Avoid clichés
Avoid the clichés. Companies have heard them all before, and you want to stand out, not disappear among the other letters. Be enthusiastic
You are enthusiastic about the position: make sure this is reflected in your letter. Stay honest and close to yourself.
Of course you want to convince the company of your qualities. But stay honest at all times. If you are not honest, it can be disadvantageous for both you and your employer.
